SEO Mad Scientist ???

Hey there scientists!
Hope you had a good week. We are back with our final update on the GMB Emoji test results from last week’s test.

Let’s start by looking at the most recent snapshots…



We are seeing small but consistent gains for terms that include car or auto which leads us to believe the car emoji was the factor. However, we do not see increases for terms that are directly related to all of the emojis.


We have continued to test emojis in other places like the description, but we have yet to see any results so we are holding off on any reporting. This doesn’t surprise us much due to the fact the description and other areas didn’t seem to impact rankings on their own with keywords in our previous tests.

We will let you know if we end up seeing any results in the future but for now, we are thinking emojis do not massively affect relevance for GMB, if at all.

This isn’t to say that it doesn’t impact CTR which we have seen an increase but can’t say it was 100% due to the emojis

We will be back next week where we take a look at how removing an address and changing a listing to a SAB impacts rankings as well as some results on responding to reviews with keywords in the reponse…
